Description
A PVC socket is a type of plumbing fitting used to join PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipes securely. It features a smooth, slightly wider inner opening into which the end of a matching‑diameter pipe is inserted. Once fitted, solvent cement (glue) or PVC adhesive is applied to the inside of the socket and the outside of the pipe to form a permanent, watertight seal.
PVC sockets are made from rigid PVC‑U or variants like CPVC, known for durability, resistance to corrosion, and suitability for both indoor and outdoor applications. They are available in a wide range of sizes (metric and imperial) to match different pipe diameters. The operating temperature and pressure ratings depend on size and material, but many sockets are rated around 15 bar at 20‑°C for standard conditions.
